Las Vegas (“the Meadows” in Spanish) was founded as a city on May 15, 1905. At that time, Las Vegas was only 19.18 square miles and had a population of approximately 800.
The Las Vegas Valley has been named as the fastest growing area in the United States. The good climate, the economy, the job opportunities and the many amenities offered are some of the factors prompting our growth.
Las Vegas is the largest metropolitan city in the United States that was founded in 20th century. Approximately 98% of Nevada is owned by the federal Government and the growth continues still.

Sheriff’s Work Card
If you are working in the gaming industry, it is mandatory in the state of Nevada to have a Sheriff’s Card. To obtain a Sheriff’s Card you must be gainfully employed. Your employer will provide you with a referral for a three year issuance. For further information, contact:

Alcohol Education Card
Anyone who sells, gives away, moves around or makes a decision regarding alcohol, as well as Security Officers, must have a valid TAM (Total Alcohol Management) card. In order to acquire a TAM Card you must attend a four hour class, pass a simple test and pay an $35.00 application fee for a 5 year issuance. For additional information, contact:

Health Card
Health Cards are mandatory for all food/beverage handlers. Tattoo technicians, Security Officer, child and adult care attendants, Health Club Attendant or massage therapists.
In order to acquire a Health Card, you must complete an application form. For a food handler card, applicants will receive a Hepatitis A vaccination. Applicants needing a Child Care or Adult Care Card, will also receive a Hepatitis A vaccination as well as having a skin test or X-ray for tuberculosis. All applicants must also attend an hour and a half class and movie within 30 days of applying for a Health Card. A temporary card will be issued until the class is completed. The cost for a Health Card is $35 for a 3 year issuance. For additional Information contact:
